Lunch Visitor Guidelines
Visitors are welcome to join their students for lunch. However, in order to ensure the safety of all students, please be prepared to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Visitors must be on the approved emergency contact list of the student(s) they are having lunch with.
- Visitors must sit at the parent/guardian table with the student they are having lunch with.
- Students are to be supervised by the staff members assigned to lunch duty in the cafeteria.
- If you are would like to have lunch with your student outside, you must inform a staff member before you exit the cafeteria.
- The student’s teacher must be informed and provide approval of all ideas and plans during lunchtime in regards to their students at least 24 hours in advance.
- Food sharing with other students is prohibited without teacher approval.
Thank you for helping to ensure the safety of all students and that the integrity of this shared experience is honored and valued.

Did you know that Alta Vista Elementary has a Facebook page? This page allows us to stay in contact with you and your student. It also provides a fun way to share new things going on in our school, as well as update you on important information.

Parent Involvement Plan
Students may be registered in the office during the following times:
10:00am – 12:00pm
1:00pm – 2:00pm
The following forms are needed to register your child:
- Birth Certificate
- Blue Immunization Card
- Physical Form from Doctor
- 2 Proofs of Resident Address
You may also visit the Parent Portal at any time to begin the registration process. Click here to do so. Once you have completed the online process, bring in your confirmation number, as well as, the items listed above to the office.

Positive Behavior and Intervention Support
PBIS is used school wide to promote positive behavior for all. PBIS promotes good choices through modeling of appropriate behavior and instant rewards of support. Students are rewarded daily, weekly, and/or monthly through PBIS. Check out the Guidance/PBIS page for tips.
No students are to be on campus before 7:30 am, as there is no supervision. Breakfast service will now take place in the classroom beginning at 7:55 am.
Car Riders are assigned a number. This number is to be displayed on the window of the car for pickup.
Car riders are to be picked up beginning at 2:55 p.m. All car riders should be picked up before 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 p.m. students will be taken to the office. Parents will have to park and go to office to get students.
School Agenda and Student Handbook
Every student receives a school agenda. The agenda is used as an organizational tool and also for communication between school and home. Parents should check their child’s agenda daily. The agenda also contains the student handbook.
SchoolMessenger allows us to stay connected with you – our parents and guardians by sending various school related messages. In order to receive non-emergency calls about situations at your students school, you must grant us permission. Opt in today!
Please also be sure the office has your correct phone number for messages and emergencies.

Alta Vista follows the School Board of Polk County Code of Conduct regarding uniforms. Additionally, we have school shirts available for purchase in the office.

Parent Portal – View your child’s grades online. Parents need to complete an application, which is available in the school office. Parents will need to know their child’s 6 digit student ID number to complete the application.

Volunteering in your child’s school.
Volunteers are an important part of our school family. To maintain campus security, first time volunteer applicants pay $25 for a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at our school, you must first fill out an online application and be approved by the district.
